Old Time Radio Shows
The Golden Age of Old Time Radio Shows is a massive resource for entertainment media. It's universal appeal has enjoyed a wide resurgence of popularity on and off of the internet as more and more people discover what nostalgia lovers and collectors have known for generations. Thousands and thousands of nostalgic shows are available in the catagories of music, comedy, westerns, mystery, science fiction, horror, drama, history, soap opera, famous literature, theater and more, to be enjoyed by all. There are more old classics available for your listening pleasure then most people would be able to get to in a lifetime. For example, on the Bookzap website, which is probably the largest known resource for these shows, you will find approximately 180,000 broadcasts with an average play time of one half hour. So, if you were to go through and listen to all of these shows, and spend three hours per day listening, you would be listening to non-repeating entertainment for over 82 years. Who are some of the artists on these shows? Simply thousands of the greatest entertainment legends of all time: Movie stars such as Cary Grant, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne. Comedy Stars such as Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, and Red Skelton. Literature and drama by such authors as Mark Twain, C.S. Lewis, and Ernest Hemingway. Science Fiction classics written by such authors as Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Orson Welles, and H. G. Wells. Mystery and Horror Shows by such authors as Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, and Arthur Conan Doyle. Music by Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Judy Garland. And the list goes on and on. Do you drive to and from work? Imagine how fast the time will fly by if your commute features great Old Time Radio shows. Folks say that it makes the time in their car fly by! The actually look forward to their daily commute so that the can listen to another show. Old time radio shows are also a great gift for a senior citizen. A way to carry them back to "The Good Old Days". In my case, I had a lot of fun with this aspect. My mother, back in the 1940's lived in 29 Palms California and she was voted one year as "The Lady from 29 Palms". I came across an Old Time Radio Show Collection of the Andrews Sisters featuring their 1940's hit song "The Lady From 29 Palms". It was great fun to watch as my mother listened to that song. Most of the older set have their favorites from that era which preceded television. Old Time Radio was a time of great imagination and enjoyment for those who gathered around the radio. The radio provided the sounds and their imaginations filled in the images. It was entertianment's "Golden Age".
